The Serbian software industry ranks between the 30th and 50th position in international rankings. It registers a constant growth of exports, with the number of software companies growing every year.
There are about 1,600 IT companies who are employing more than 14,000 people. Research has shown that 50,000-100,000 jobs in new IT sectors could be created in Serbia by 2020. Currently, there is demand for around 30,000 IT professionals. From the other hand, there are only 1,000-1,500 of them graduating every year.
Due to this market demand, recruiters are daily pouring out IT professionals with various job offers that involve tempting benefits, competitive salaries and other privileges, using Linkedin and other social networks.
Although all this seems very promising and perspective, the abundance of offers can be so overwhelming that it becomes a problem in itself, reflected in the paradox of the choice. Studies suggest that too much choice may encourage confusion and choice determent. It may also encourage the reduction in satisfaction with chosen options.
Does this sound familiar to you?
Problem is that most job offers are similar and tempting, but only a small number of them meet the criteria relevant to the specific person. This comes from the standard recruiting approach. Recruiters are focusing on companies rather than candidates. They are looking for the best candidate for the company and not the vice versa.
A different recruiting approach would be a solution to this problem.
It implies focus on the IT professionals and involves connecting them only with those companies that meet their expectations and criteria. Some of them are terms related to organizational culture, technologies, benefits, salary ranking, etc. This unique approach is based on finding the best fit between candidate’s competence and preference and company’s goals and culture.
In this way, the harmful consequences of having a huge number of choices are reduced. It can also reduce the time that IT professionals spend in searching for the desired company. Identifying the best fit has a far-reaching influence. It influences the career development of the IT experts and their job satisfaction, as well as the IT company’s business success.
If you feel overwhelmed with a large number of choices, ask yourself if any of them really represents your best fit. If the answer is no, then let us make your choice easier.
